Bernard A.Xavier
CEO and the President
Bernard A.Xavier has joined Modesat Communications in February 2012 as the CEO and the President. He brings over 20 years of technical and managerial experience from semiconductor industry, from companies he has established and led to successful exits. He is the founder and CEO of Innocomm Wireless, which was acquired by National Semiconductor (NASDAQ: TXN) in 2001. In 2002, Mr Xavier founded Quorum Systems, a TDSCDMA 3G radio transceiver developer, which was subsequently acquired by Spreadtrum Communications (NASDAQ: SPRD) in 2008. His last position was founder and CEO of Linear Silicon Solutions, a high performance ADC developer, acquired by Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) in 2011.
Bernard A.Xavier has a PhD in Circuit Theory and Microwave Mixers from Brunel University, UK.
Tarmo Pihl
COO, VP Business Development and International Sales
Tarmo Pihl is a co-founder of the company, serving presently as COO and VP for Business Development and International Sales. Prior founding Modesat Communications, Mr Pihl was active as technology and innovation consultant, serving at European Commission ICT Programme Committees.
Tarmo Pihl received his MSc Economics from University of Tartu, Estonia (cum laude) in finance and international economics.
Dr. Sanguoon Chung
VP Research and Development
Dr Sanguoon Chung has joined Modesat Communications in July 2010 as CTO. Dr Chung is responsible for leading the entire design process of high speed data modems for point-to-point communication market and defining company’s long term strategic technology development activities. Dr Chung has previously worked as the Director of Design Centre at Broadcom (NASDAQ: BRCM) in the area of 2.5G and 3G baseband modems, their corresponding software, and multimedia. During 1998 to 2004 Dr Chung worked Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics (LSE: SMSN) being active in deploying 1X-EV DO/DV, GPRS, and design of UMTS modems. Dr Chung has also worked in Sony Wireless (NYSE: Sony ADS) as Director for high speed data CDMA and WCDMA modem development and as a Task Leader in Nokia Mobile Phone, Inc (NYSE: NOC). Prior to Nokia, Dr Chung has worked for Mission Research and AMD (NYSE: AMD) as a senior researcher and Sr. System Design Engineer, respectively, over ten years.
Andrei Ivanov
Principal Systems Engineer, point to point microwave
Mr Andrei Ivanov is a Principal Systems Engineer in point to point microwave radio Engineering Group. Mr Ivanov has extensive experience in design, manufacture, testing and operating of various telecommunications equipment, radar systems and satellite communication equipment from Amphenol (NYSE: APH) and Elcoteq (Helsinki: ELQAV).
Mr. Andrei Ivanov graduated MSc as RF engineer from Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy, Sankt Petersburg, Russia, in 1983. He has strong experience in modeling, simulating and evaluation wireless system with C/Matlab.
Sulo Kallas
Director of Engineering
Mr Sulo Kallas is the Director of Engineering, responsible for supervising implementation of point to point microwave and millimeter wave modems. Mr Kallas has extensive experience in high capacity QAM modem transmitter and receiver design, leading the engineering team to industry's first 1024QAM PtP radio modem design in low cost FPGA.
Mr Kallas has computer engineering background with the focus on electical engineering and DSP.
