Modesat Communications is a privately held technology company specializing in the design, development and commercialization of high throughput FPGA and ASIC based modems for microwave, millimeter wave and satellite communications applications. Products developed incorporate Modesat’s patented PilotSyncTM synchronization technology, which enables higher throughput, lower bill of materials cost and increased operational reliablity. Modesat's R&D Dept conducts system analysis and design, system modelling, simulations and testing, VHDL programming, HW and DSP engineering, prototyping and testing. R&D engineers perform also evaluation testings, solution customization and integration into customer's systems. Job is offered in company's R&D Deptartment's Point-to-Point Radio Engineering Group either in San Diego, US or Tallinn, Estonia.

Job description

  • FPGA and digital hardware design for wireless communication systems
  • Specify and document microarchitecture for block level designs in FPGA
  • RTL coding using Verilog, re-training from HDL to Verilog can be provided by the company
  • Write testbenches and test cases for block level tests
  • Verilog simulation using Modelsim/Quartus/Xilinx ISE tools
  • Perform Synthesis, place & route, timing closure and generate bitfiles targeted to Altera or Xilinx platforms using Quartus or ISE Foundation
  • Debug in the Lab using Altera JTAG or Xilinx Chipscope

Requirements

  • 5 years of strong FPGA design experience, incl test and verifications
  • Experience with Altera Cyclone or Xilinx Spartan FPGA families
  • Strong experience in Altera Quartus/Xilinx ISE flow is a plus
  • Extensive experience with Verilog simulators
  • Lab Debug experience using Altera JTAG/Xilinx Chipscope
  • Experience in Gigabit Ethernet or similar interfaces is preferred
  • Experience in programming modem IP Cores is an asset
  • Full time availability

Job description

  • Printed Circuit Board design and layout for testing and demonstrating wireless modem performance, including design of analogue filters
  • System integration tests with RF equipment such as Spectrum Analyser, Oscilloscope, Network Analyser etc
  • Working together with modem team to define RF system requirements.
  • System integration and support to test and demonstrate performances at customer premises.
  • Consultation of OEM customers in electronic design questions.

Requirements

  • 5 years of strong experience in board level electronic design, incl test and verifications
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence or other similar
  • Experience in board verification
  • Full time availability
